Jeanne Hébuterne (French pronunciation: [ʒan ebytɛʁn]; 6 April 1898 - 26 January 1920) was a French painter and art model best known as the frequent subject and common-law wife of the artist Amedeo Modigliani. The name of Jeanne Hébuterne is inseparable from that of Amedeo Modigliani, and the surprising and sad truth is that it was her death rather than life that tied them together forever. It is common knowledge that she committed suicide the day after Modigliani's death and was buried in the same grave.
